Thank you for reading my written review of the Nike Mercurial Superfly IV. You usually expect the boot to be normal, but here you get some cushion to take the edge off but somehow still barefoot? I’m not sure, but I absolutely loved it. This shoe is for someone who wants a light, thin, barefoot feel, with some quirks to it, such as the dynamic fit collar, and an unusual sensation when trapping the ball. The back heel, with the mercurial branding, looks amazing. The colours that this boot came in made me fall in love with it. The mid-cut flyknit collar is so weird looking, which might sound like a bad thing but I love how it looks. If someone goes in for a hard tackle, or stomps on your cleat, you will have more protection than the Vapor X, but not enough to bring it up a rating. To make the boot so thin and light, we have to sacrifice something. In this category, this is where the shoe has it’s downfall. The thin flyknit upper has a nice shooting area, but since it doesn’t have any special elements, this receives the average rating. The Vapor X is like second skin, and second to none in the Touch Department, but the Superfly IV is not far behind.Īs for shooting, I really liked the Superfly IV. The touch has to be cushioned a little because the fly knit is knit material and has those qualities to it. The thin fly knit upper offers a barefoot, but slightly cushioned. With this shoe, the touch is not the best touch that exists, because that title belongs to the Vapor X or the Vapor XI, I haven’t tried the XI, but this is not bad by any means. The traction is equally as good as Vapor X. The soleplate on the Vapor is different than the one attached to the Superfly IV. It is also the same stud pattern found on the Vapor X. The only stud pattern more agressive is the one found on the Superfly V. The stud pattern is the most agressive of it’s time. Nike has used a thin layer of Carbon Fibre, just like the previous 3 Superfly’s. In terms of Traction, this shoe has amazing traction. The upper is not as thin as the Vapor X, but still gives you a barefoot feel with a tiny bit of cushion, given the knit nature of the boot. It is very flexible and sock like on your feet. Flyknit was first released in 2014 on football boots but has been on running shoes and training shoes from Nike for a long time. The upper on this boot is flyknit, Nike’s revolutionary technology that is found also on the Superfly V and the Magista Obra’s 1 and 2. However, after 4 to 5 hours of playing, your feet will start to hurt. ![]() I will get into the Upper in the next section. But once broken in, this shoe is super comfortable and the upper is so soft. I took it slower, and it takes time to break in. 2 other friends of mine have Superfly IV’s and they wore them straight into a game, and they both got blisters. It takes a while to break in, and you should do that slowly. You can check on eBay, but be very careful, as there are a lot of fakes.Īs for comfort, this shoe is the most comfortable football boot I have ever worn. Unfortunately you can no longer purchase this pair of shoes because they are sold out everywhere. This is my written review for the Nike Mercurial Superfly IV.
